La Monacilla Golf Course is a wonderful new addition to the golf courses in Costa de la Luz.  This is a very flat, easy to walk par 72 course designed by Jose Maria Olazabal.  La Monacilla has been carved out of a pine forest and offers players a very tranquil and picturesque setting. The course has large greens, wide fairways and there are spectacular lakes around the 2nd and 7th with fantastic views. The course is situated 5 km away from Huelva city very close to Bellavista Golf Course.  The magnificent clubhouse rounds off a fantastic golf experience.

About the courses…

 Zaudín Golf Seville was created in 1992. This 18 hole courses is one of the best Golf Clubs in Seville. Designed by one of the best players of the game Gary Player,  a course with ample fairways lined with olive trees which allows skills of all levels to play from professionals to less accomplished players..

In Zaudín Golf Seville, you can find all the benefits of a Private Club, although it allows visitors to some of its facilities, obviously, the golf course!

Located just a 10 minutes drive from the center of Seville, in the Aljarafe area, where in Roman times, the old settlers of Seville constructed their summer villas; next to the Guadalquivir river and much higher than the city, with wonderful views and up to four degrees less in summer.

About the courses…

In spite of its previous use, the Avocado Tree or Persea Índica (as it is known by its original name), is not the only tree present here, as many other endemic species like eucalyptus, orange and lemon trees, cactus, pines, fig trees, olive and mango trees make up the varied vegetation of this beautiful enclave, together with a varied population of indigenous birds, with amongst others the calzada eagle. The cork oaks along the 5th hole deserve special mention, as they have been present here for more than 500 years.

The beautiful environment with its natural surrounding will give the golfer the overriding impression of an existing maturity in every aspect of the course. However, it is not only the beauty of the landscape and its flora and fauna that will impress the player, as the golf course itself has been provided with the best attributes to please the most discerning golfer. The course has been constructed with the best means available and can boast automatic irrigation throughout the layout, as well as a sophisticated drainage system which will keep the number of days the course could be closed due to adverse weather conditions to a minimum.

Santana Golf is technically speaking a demanding course as the unique design of each hole is intended to give a continuous challenge, even for the more experienced player. The layout of the greens, well protected by greenside bunkers, as well as the many water hazards spread throughout the course, will challenge every golfer and require good course management as well as the use of every golf shot in the bag.

It is difficult to speak of a signature hole at Santana Golf as they all have something special to offer. The long par-4 18th is one of the most demanding finishing holes along the coast according to the designer, with the lake along the right hand side and a narrow approach to the green. The 4th hole can only be defined with one word: spectacular. The views from the tee are magnificent and the ‘Campillos’ stream provides a challenging approach to the green; or what about the 8th hole, with a length of 602 metre (658 yards) considered to be the longest hole of the Costa del Sol and favouring the longer hitter; not to forget the 12th Par 3, playing downhill, with a very large undulating green, many a golfer would be happy to walk away with a three here.

One of the most outstanding features of Santana Golf is without a doubt the variety in design, as each and every hole is differentiated by its own characteristics.

Directions:

Situated half way between Fuengirola and Marbella, drive on the A7 (old coastal road N-340) until “La Cala de Mijas”, then pull out and drive into the mountains. On reaching the third roundabout, turn to the right and climb a little, then the road descends into the valley and the golf course is already visible on the left hand-side.The entrance is through the stone arch.  The distance between La Cala de Mijas and Santana Golf is 6 kms, and remember to avoid approaching us on the toll road (AP7)

Cancellations

Cancellations Period
The period for cancellations is 7 Days prior to the date of play. All cancellations within the 7-Day period will not be accepted and will be charged in full.
Cancellation Number
All cancellations will be supplied with a Cancellation Number by SG; customers should request and keep this number as it will be requested by SG in case of future claims.
Cancellations due to Illness, Emergency or Unavoidable Situation
Santana Golf advice all customers to have travel insurance to cover for any illness, emergency or other unavoidable situation.
Santana Golf waives any responsibility should any of these situations occur and will charge customers for all the services contracted in case of No Show.
No Shows
No Shows will be charged in full by Santana Golf.
A No Show is defined as:
a)   Anyone who makes a reservation and fails to appear for the tee time
b)   Anyone who makes a reservation and fails to cancel within the time frame.
c)   Anyone who fails to modify a reservation.
d)   Anyone who fails to appear at the 1st Tee at least 15 minutes prior to the start time.

Rules of Etiquette
To preserve the tradition of the game of golf, players should also practice good golf etiquette before, during and after their round of golf; your behaviour will have an effect on everyone around you:
No Mulligan
Hand Trollies are not permitted on tees, bunkers, aprons or greens
Repair all divots
Repair your own pitch mark and one other
Rake all bunkers correctly
Keep golf buggies within the Buggy Paths – Strictly 2 persons/2 bags per Buggy
Speed of Play is of great importance, so players must keep up with the players in front. Slow Play affects everyone playing behind you. A conscious effort to play your round in no more than 4 hours and 20 minutes will make the game of golf at Santana Golf more enjoyable for everyone.

El Chaparral is an 18-hole golf course that sweeps along the undulating coastline of Mijas Costa and is only a 20-minute drive from Malaga, making it so very convenient for all the surrounding nightlife and facilities. The course and the clubhouse are unique to the Costa del Sol.

About the course…

Los Flamingos can be found in what can only be described as one of the most beautiful enclaves of the Costa del Sol. From each of the 18 holes you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Mediterranean, Africa and Gibraltar while experiencing all the peace and tranquillity you desire from a golf course.

Designed by the famous Spanish Ryder cup player Antonio Garrido, the course was first opened in 2001. It offers an exciting and varied design with ample but tiered greens along with undulating fairways that will impress even the most discerning golfer. A special feature is the “Arroyo del Taraje” stream that passes through the course and ends in a lake that is a natural border for the course at the beginning of holes one and ten. What you will notice is that every detail has been considered and cypress, oranges, olives, pines, carobs and chestnuts are the types of tree that give each hole its own identity.

The course is very enjoyable with a good mixture of both long and short holes. It is demanding for even the most experienced golfer, particularly the front nine holes. Just remember the views if you are not playing well – they are well worth the visit! The par 4 tenth is the most challenging hole where water plays its part. A good tee shot is required to set up the chance of playing over the water to reach the huge but undulating green. There are also two artificial lakes on the fifteenth and the right hand side of the seventeenth that make this even more interesting. Another feature is that all the bunkers are filled with ground marble. Although the course can be walked it is advisable to take advantage of the buggies on offer so you can sit and admire the scenic landscape between shots.

When you have finished playing you can enjoy a drink or snack at the bar-café “La Cantina” where you can admire the beautiful views of the lake, sea and golf course. In the evening, “La Cantina” with its terrace becomes a unique place for celebrating a special evening.

Other facilities include a practice area with putting green and for the golfer with relatively little experience or with limited time there is the short 9 hole Flamingo Blanco to enjoy. Eventually there will be four golf courses here. The pro shop and changing facilities are in the clubhouse which itself is located within the beautiful Hotel Villa Padierna constructed in the style of a Tuscan Villa. It offers all the comforts one expects from a 5 star luxury hotel and is absolutely majestic in appearance and would grace any part of the world. About the course…

 As for the course itself, it was designed by the renowned Malaga architect Antonio Garcia Garrido, the creator of several prestigious golf courses and is notable for the way it blends in with the natural landscape of the area and the wonderful Mediterranean views it offers. The architect has certainly made the most of the land that was available to him and produced an extremely enjoyable course to play.

For a course so young in construction, it has matured superbly and is in excellent condition throughout. It has two different layouts and will entertain high handicappers as well as true golf professionals. The first 9 holes are longer and perhaps more difficult winding between indigenous trees, lakes and rivers, whilst the other 9 holes are perhaps more manageable with a gentle incline. The main feature of almost every hole is the spaciousness of the greens, which have an average area of 700 square metres! Our advice would be to take advantage of the buggies that are available, as this is not a true walking course due mainly to the distances between greens and tees.

There is a full-scale plan for development of the surrounding area and the resort itself will eventually have a 300m-practice area, its own golf academy and 9-hole par 3 course. At the moment there is a temporary club- house and pro-shop but that and all the ongoing development, does not detract from the facilities on offer at the moment.

On arrival there is ample parking and you will come across perhaps the most helpful caddie master there is on the Costa del Sol. The clubhouse does offer changing facilities, as well as snack lunches and refreshments when you finish your round.

Directions:  The course is situated at exit Km 146 on the A-7 (beach road Marbella to Algeciras). At the roundabout signposted Casares, follow the directions to Dona Julia Golf resort, which is well signposted.

 About the course…

The course was originally known as “Las Aves” and designed by Robert Trent Jones. The present owner and president, Jaime Ortiz-Patino, took over in 1987 and given more land, invited Trent Jones back to transform the course, which he did successfully to create Valderrama as we know it today.

As for the course itself it is set amongst a cork oak forest on the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja. The fairways are fairly flat and tree lined while the greens are elevated and well protected by bunkers. It is challenging and many words have been used to describe it such as daring, dramatic, demanding etc. When the course is presented to television it looks immaculate and perfectly manicured – we can honestly say it is like this twelve months of the year. It is a great spectator course allowing plenty of room to walk the fairways and follow your favourite star.

Valderrama has plenty of tales to tell and many a golfing star has succumbed to the difficulties of various holes on the course. Ask Tiger Woods about the seventeenth which must rank as one of the most famous golfing holes in the world. During the various championships, spectators sit on the bank at the back of the green to watch the pros try and reach the green in two. They love it when the ball goes in the lake! There is the fourth where a pond, a waterfall and lake protect the green even though it is difficult to hit anyway. Every hole has its own little quirk and even when you reach the putting surface the greens are slick and devious.

Valderrama is such a beautiful course and has to be ranked as one of the best in the world of golf. The setting is peaceful and tranquil and is clearly the pride and joy of Jaime Ortiz-Patino.

Med Golf have a very close working relationship with Valderrama and as there are restrictions on the number and when visitors can play, you should contact us to book your tee time. Mobile phones are not allowed and should be left in the car. There are also very strict local rules as far dress code and handicap is concerned which should be checked prior to your visit. Soft spikes must be worn.

On arrival the majestic clubhouse and the facilities it has to offer will immediately impress you. Admire the large practice area and imagine you are there alongside Tiger Woods. After your round enjoy a drink or lunch on the terrace at the Masters bar and breathe in the history that is Valderrama. Browse around the well-stocked pro shop or visit the museum if it is open.

If you have the chance to play Valderrama you have to take it. It is a once in a lifetime experience not to be forgotten.

Directions: from both Marbella or Algeciras, turn off the N-340 at km. 133 and take the exit marked Sotogrande-Guadiaro-Castellar.

Groups of one or two pax are not permitted at Valderrama. Players may be paired together in groups of 3 or 4 players

The official Golf Rules and “Etiquette” must be respected on the golf course. Failure to comply with golf rules may result in players being told to leave the golf course
